In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “O Israel you have destroyed yourself; but in me is your help”, and in chapter thirteen and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I will be your king” where we read,
I will be your king: where is any other that may save you in all your cities?
and your judges of whom you said, Give me a king and princes?
The verse begins, “I will be your king: where is any other that may save you in all your cities?” Hosea began with the words, “I will be your king” or “I, Jehovah God, shall exist as your, Israel's, royal ruler, leader and authority”: “where is any other” which means “in what place exists another person or being” “that may save you” or “who is able to rescue, deliver and liberate you, Israel” “in all your cities” which means “within each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Israel's, towns, places of waking or guarded encampments”? Hosea shared how Jehovah God declared that He would exist as “Israel's” royal ruler, and He questioned in what place there existed anyone else who could liberate them within every one of their dwelling places and towns.
The verse continues, “and your judges of whom you said, Give me a king and princes?” Hosea added the words, “and your judges” or “and your, Israel's, governors, vindicators and ones who decide controversies” “of whom you said” which means “which you, Israel, uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “give me a king” or “grant, bestow, ascribe and consecrate to me, Israel, a royal ruler, authority and leader” “and princes” which means “and youthful rulers, chieftains, leaders, captains and officials”? Hosea shared how Jehovah God continued to question “Israel” as He asked about them appealing to their “governors and ones who decide controversies” to provide a royal leader and youthful official to them.
When we meditate upon Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God said He would be the royal ruler of the people of “Israel”, and He questioned who else could liberate them in all their dwelling places. He noted their appeal to the governor, (Samuel), to provide them with a human “king”. (See 2) God wants to be the ruler in our lives, and He is the only one who provided His Son Jesus to be crucified on a cross and three days later to be raised from the dead so we may be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God loves Israel, and He loves us, and no one else is able to take His place of rule and authority in our lives to liberate us and make us free.
Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God says, “I gave you a king in my anger”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
