In the book of Hosea, Hosea said, “O Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them”, and in chapter ten and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “it is in my desire that I should chastise them” where we read,
It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them,
when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.
The verse begins, “It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, ...” Hosea began with the words, “It is my desire” or “the following exists as my, Jehovah God's, longing, pleasure and will”, “that I should chastise them” which means “that I, Jehovah God, should discipline, instruct and admonish them, the people of Israel”; “and the people” or “and the human beings both male and female” “shall be gathered against them”which means “will assemble and be collected together in opposition to them, the people of Israel”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God longed to discipline and admonish the people of Israel, and others would be assembled in opposition to them at the following time.
The verse continues, “... when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.” Hosea added the words, “when they shall bind themselves” or “at the time and moment they, the people of Israel, will tie, imprison and harness their own selves” “in their two furrows” which means “within their, the people of Israel's, two transgressions and iniquities”. Hosea said the people would be “gathered against” the nation of Israel at the time they were imprisoned by their two transgressions.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God desired to admonish and discipline the people of Israel, however, they were separated from Him because of their sinful lives, and they were to be overtaken by other nations. God loves the people of Israel, and He loves us. He wants us to be in a personal relationship with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind so that anyone who yields to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let all who read these words consider the sinful path of the people of Israel and avoid following in their steps and keep in alignment and relationship with Jehovah God.
Next time Hosea says, “Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
