In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I that am the LORD your God from the land of Egypt will yet make you to dwell in tabernacles, as in the days of the solemn feast”, and in chapter twelve and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I have also spoken by the prophets” where we read,
I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions,
and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
The verse begins, “I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, ...” Hosea began with the words, “I have also spoken” or “I, Jehovah God, have even so and indeed conversed, commanded and declared” “by the prophets” which means “through the means of inspired spokesmen”, “and I have multiplied” or “and I, Jehovah God, increased, made numerous and enlarged” “visions” which means “oracles, prophesies and divine communications”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God even so and indeed made declarations through the means of inspired spokesmen, and He increased the number of divine communications.
The verse continues, “... and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.” Hosea added the words, “and used similitudes” or “and employed likenesses and resemblances”, “by the ministry” which means “through the special technical senses” “of the prophets” or “belonging to the inspired spokesmen”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God also employed resemblances and likenesses through the special technical senses and abilities belonging to His inspired spokesmen.
When we think through Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God involved Himself regularly in the lives of the people of “Israel” through the means of inspired men who told them His words and ways. They used special gifts given to them by God to show the people of “Israel” about His love, care, concern and direction for them. Even so God has given us His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of His inspired servants and words that are meant for our provision and protection.
Next time Hosea shares how Jehovah God asks, “Is there iniquity in Gilead?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
