HOLINESS TO THE LORD - Zechariah 14:20

In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said about going to worship in Jerusalem, “if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles”, and in chapter fourteen and verse twenty of Zechariah, Zechariah said, “there shall be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD” where we read,

In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD;

and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

The verse reads, In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; Zechariahbegan with the words, “in that day” or “within that time period or season” “shall there be upon the bells” which means “will there exist on the tinklers or bells” “of the horses” or “belonging to the swifts or chariot horses”, “HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD” which means “sacredness, separateness, apartness and consecration to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. Zechariah shared how the “bells” upon the swifts and chariot horses would be engraved with the statement of sacredness and separateness of Jehovah God.

The verse continues, and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Zechariah added the words, “and the pots” or “and the boiling caldrons, fishhooks or utensils” “in the LORD's house” which means “within the dwelling place, habitation and abode belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall be like the bowls” or “will exist similar and in likeness to the basins used for throwing or tossing a liquid” “before the altar” which means “in the presence, surface and front of the place of slaughter”. Zechariah shared how the cooking caldrons within Jehovah God's dwelling place would be similar to the sacred basins which were in the presence of the place of slaughter.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how there will be a declaration of the “Holiness”of Jehovah God is engraved upon the “bells” or harness of “bells” which are adorned by the chariot or war horses, and the cooking basins will be used in the sacred place of slaughter and worship. Even the animals and implements within the dwelling place or temple of Jehovah God will acknowledge His worthiness. God is holy, and His desire is for us to be holy as well. (See 1 Peter 1:15-16) He sent His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the entire world, and because He is Holy, He is able to forgive and grant everlasting life by way of His sacrifice. When we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His righteousness within us so we live in a manner that is pleasing to Him. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Next time Zechariah says, “every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
