In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared about “the children of the province that went up out of the captivity” which included those who came with “Zerubabbel” among whom were “the men of Michmas, Bethel and Ai, and the children of Nebo, Magbish, the other Elam, Harim, Lod, Hadid, Ono and Jericho”,and in chapter two and verse thirty-five of Ezra, Ezra shared about “the children of Senaah” where we read,
The children of Senaah, three thousand and six hundred and thirty.
The verse reads, “The children of Senaah, ...” Ezra began with the words, “the children” which means “the progeny and offspring” “of Senaah” or “belonging to Senaah or Hassenaah whose name means thorny and was the ancestor of a family who returned from exile with Zerubbabel”. Ezra mentioned the family of “Senaah” who went back to Jerusalem at the direction of Jehovah God through Cyrus the king of Persia.
The verse continues, “... three thousand and six hundred and thirty.” Ezra added the words, “three thousand and six hundred and thirty.” or “thirty six hundred and thirty members of the family of Senaah returned to Jerusalem”. Ezra said there were thirty-six hundred and thirty people who were descendants of “Senaah” who went back to Jerusalem after being exiled in Babylon for seventy years.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra about the offspring of “Senaah” who went back to Jerusalem after being commissioned by God through Cyrus. God's desire was for the people of Israel to be back in their homeland, and even as He has done over and over again, God calls Israel and us to be where He desires for us to be. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to obey Him through His Holy Spirit any time He leads us and directs us according to His perfect will and plan.
Next time Ezra shares about, “the priests”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
