The Children of Harim - Ezra 2:32

In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared about “the children of the province that went up out of the captivity” which included those who came with “Zerubabbel” among whom were “the men of Michmas, Bethel and Ai, and the children of Nebo, Magbish and the other Elam”,and in chapter two and verse thirty-two of Ezra, Ezra shared about “the children of Harim”where we read,

The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.

The verse reads, The children of Harim, ... Ezra began with the words, “the children” which means “the offspring and progeny” “of Harim” or “belonging to Harim whose name means dedicated and was another head of a family of exiles who returned with Zerubbabel”. Ezra shared about “Harim” who was the forefather of more people of Israel who returned to Jerusalem.

The verse goes on to say, ... three hundred and twenty. Ezra continued with the words, three hundred and twenty” or “three hundred and twenty offspring of Harim went back to Jerusalem”. Ezra shared how three hundred and twenty offspring of “Harim” obeyed the commission of Jehovah God through Cyrus the king of Persia to go back to their homeland.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra about three hundred and twenty more of the people of Israel whose forefather was “Harim” who returned to Jerusalem in Judah. Although they were not fully aware of what they would find when they went home, they trusted Jehovah God would take care of them. God loves people, and His plans for us are good. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and equip us with the power to live according to that truth regardless of what we will encounter along the way. (See John 16:13; Acts 1:8)

Next time Ezra shares about, “the children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
