The Children of Keros, Siaha and Padon - Ezra 2:44

In the book of Ezra, Ezra shared about “the children of the province that went up out of the captivity” which included those who came with “Zerubabbel” among whom were “the Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth, ...”,and in chapter two and verse forty four of Ezra, Ezra shared about, “the children of Keros, Siaha and Padon” where we read,

The children of Keros, the children of Siaha, the children of Padon, ...

The verse reads, The children of Keros, the children of Siaha, ... Ezra began with the words, “the children” which means “the offspring and progeny” “of Keros” which means “belonging to Keros whose name means ankle and was thehead of a family of temple slaves who returned from exile with Zerubbabel”, “the children” or “the offspring and progeny” “of Siaha” which means “belonging to Siaha whose name means departing and was ancestor of a family of temple slaves who returned from exile with Zerubbabel”. Ezra shared how there were members of the families of “Keros and Siaha” who returned to Jerusalem with Zerubabbel.

The verse goes on to say, ... the children of Padon, ... Ezra continued with the words, the children” or “the offspring and progeny” “of Padon” which means “belonging to Padon whose name means ransom and was an head or ancestor of a family of temple slaves who returned with Zerubbabel”. Ezra shared how the offspring of “Padon” also went back to Jerusalem at the commission of Jehovah God through Cyrus the king of Persia.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Ezra about more of the “Nethinims” who went back to Jerusalem in Judah. These families were obedient to the commission of Jehovah God through Cyrus, and their work would be important as they served the Levites, the temple and the items within it. God gives a position to everyone who submits to His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show us the area of service we are to perform in His Kingdom. (See Romans 12:3-8)

Next time Ezra shares about, “the children of Lebanah, Hagabah and Akkub”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
