As Smoke Driven Away - Psalms 68:2

In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse two of Psalms David said, “as smoke is driven away, so drive them away” where we read,

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away:

as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

The verse begins, As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: David began with the words, “as smoke is driven away” or “even in likeness to vapor, dust and anger being thrust down, shaken and tossed to and fro”, “so drive them away” which means “even and indeed thrust down, shake and toss to and fro the hating foes and adversaries of Jehovah God”. David desired that Jehovah God thrust down and toss to and fro His enemies.

The verse continues,as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. David added the words, “as wax melts before the fire” or “even in likeness to melting wax which is set on or beside fire”, “so let the wicked perish” which means “therein allow and permit the criminal, guilty of sin and hostile to God to be exterminated, vanish and die” “at the presence of God” or “in the face, countenance and sight belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David desired that the enemies of Jehovah God be melted away like wax before fire, and the people who are guilty of sin and hostile to God to be exterminated before His face.

When we meditate upon words in this verse, we see how David wanted the enemies of Jehovah God to vanish and be exterminated before Him. David left the vengeance of God's enemies to be His own (See Isaiah 63:4; Romans 12:19), and we should follow David's example. God loves everyone, however, not everyone loves Him nor do they align with His plan of salvation through His Son Jesus. Jesus was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and anyone who yields to Him as “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Those who refuse and reject Jesus are opposed to Him and live among the “wicked” who shall “melt and perish at the presence of God”.

Next time David says, “let the righteous be glad”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
