Psalms chapter sixty-five begins with the heading, “[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David.]]” which breaks down, “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director” “a Psalm” which means “a poem or melody set to notes” "and song" or "and musical ode" “of David” or “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel” and in chapter sixty-five and verse one of Psalms David said, “Praise waits for you, O God” where we read,
Praise waits for you, O God, in Sion: and unto you shall the vow be performed.
The verse begins, “Praise waits for you, O God, in Sion:” David began with the words, “Praise waits for you” or “a song or hymn of adoration, thanksgiving, fame and glory is in stillness, quiet and trust to you, Jehovah God”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “in Sion” or “within Zion whose name means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. David said a song of adoration and thanksgiving existed in silence for the Divine judge within the city of Zion or Jerusalem.
The verse goes on to say, “and unto you shall the vow be performed.” David continued with the words, “and unto you” or “and toward you, Jehovah God” “shall the vow” which means “will the promise or votive offering” “be performed” or “exists as a covenant of peace would exist as complete, finished and ended”. David said to Jehovah God the promise or votive offering of peace would be completed.
When we continued with the words in this verse, David begins this Psalm by referring to a song of honor, adoration of thanksgiving within the city of Jerusalem for Jehovah God. The people of Zion would keep their promise unto God and exalt Him as He deserves. God wants to have an intimate relationship with every person, and this comes through believing in His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord” and bringing forth “fruit” in their lives that proves their belief in Him. (See John 15:16) When we trust and believe in Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the ability to honor Him with a song in our hearts as we keep the promises made to Him.
Next time David addresses Jehovah God, “that hears prayer”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
