In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “Sing unto God, sing praises unto his name: extol him that rides upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him. A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse six of Psalms David said, “God sets the solitary in families” where we read,
God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains:
but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
The verse begins, “God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains:” David began with the words, “God sets the solitary” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God seats and establishes the desolate and lonely” “in families” which means “within households”: “he brings out” or “he, the Divine judge Jehovah God, sets free and releases” “those which are bound” which means “the prisoners or people who are captive and bound” “with chains” or “with restraints into prosperity”. David shared how Jehovah God puts the lonely and desolate into “families”, and he sets free people who are prisoners and places them in positions of prosperity.
The verse continues, “but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” David added the words, “but the rebellious” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover people who are stubborn, refractory and backsliding” “dwell in a dry land” which means “live and abide within a scorched or parched settled place, region, habitation or desert”. David said people who are obstinate, stubborn and refractory reside within a parched and scorched place.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David how Jehovah God is concerned for people who are lonely, and He makes provision for them to be in “families”. Sometimes those families are among their friends, but the idea is that He brings others into their lives to care about them. People who are stubborn and obstinate against Jehovah God, however, settle down in parched and scorched places. God's desire is to have an intimate personal relationship with everyone, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we would no longer be separated from Him. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, place us in His family – the church and free us from all bondages which imprison us. However, those who do not humble themselves and resist God's plan of salvation will find themselves living in a scorched and dry place prepared for the “rebellious”.
Next time David says, “O God, when you went forth before your people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
