In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said, “They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at your tokens: you make the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse nine of Psalms David said of Jehovah God, “You visit the earth, and water it” where we read,
You visit the earth, and water it: you greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water:
you prepare them corn, when you have so provided for it.
The verse begins, “You visit the earth, and water it: you greatly enrich it with the river of God, which is full of water:” David began with the words, “you visit the earth” or “you, Jehovah God, attend to, reckon, appoint, look after and care for the country, region, territory, land and world”, “and water it” which means “and give abundance and overflow of water to the world”: “you greatly enrich it” or “you, Jehovah God, make rich and grow the world” “with the river of God” which means “by the use of the canal or channel of water as in irrigation belonging to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “which is full of water” or “that is abundant, consecrated, filled, armed and satisfied with water”. David said Jehovah God looks after and cares for the world by making it rich with “water” from His abundantly filled “river”.
The verse goes on to say, “you prepare them corn, when you have so provided for it.” David continued with the words, “you prepare them corn” or “you, Jehovah God, make firm, stable and fixed the people of the world with wheat, cereal or grain”, “when you have so provided for it” which means “at the time and moment you, Jehovah God, have made the corn firm, stable and fixed”. David said Jehovah God provided physical nourishment for the people of the world whenever He desired through the use of “grain, wheat or corn”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David referred to Jehovah God's provision of “water” and “food” to the people of the world. God gives life, breath, drink and nourishment to people, and although their supplies differ, He distributes His goods according to his purpose. God loves us, and He not only provides for us physically, but also provides for us spiritually by sending His Son Jesus to be the “Savior and Lord” of the world. Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins of everyone, and when we receive Him into our lives, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide for us according to His “riches in glory”. (See Philippians 4:19)
Next time David says of Jehovah God, “You water the ridges thereof abundantly”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
