In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse thirteen of Psalms David tells what happens, “though you have lien among the pots” where we read,
Though you have lien among the pots,
yet shall you be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
The verse begins, “Though you have lien among the pots, ...” David began with the words, “though you have lien” or “if and whether you, male or female people, have lain to rest and relaxed” “among the pots” which means “between and betwixt the hook-shaped pegs, hooks or stalls for cattle”. David presented the idea of the people of Israel lying between the stalls for cattle.
The verse goes on to say, “… yet shall you be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.” David continued with the words, “yet you shall be” or “even so and indeed will exist” “as the wings of a dove” which means “in likeness unto the winged edges and extremities belonging to a small dove or pigeon” “covered with silver” or “overlaid, encased and veiled within silver metal”, “and her feathers” which means “and the dove's pinions or feathers” “with yellow gold” or “with a greenish, pale green or greenish-yellow gold metal”. David said even if the people of God were to have dwelt within the stalls, they would be like small “doves” that were covered in silver metal and their feathers would be covered with gold metal.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God desires to recover and restore His people. Even though they may have been in such a state that it was like being in cattle stalls, God would elevate them to a state like precious metals. God is in the business of making that which is defeated and ruined to be made new, and when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, He provided a way for us to be changed. (See 2 Corinthians 5:17) God wants to forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and change us within our hearts and minds, and when we surrender to Jesus, we receive His provision to move from the stalls to precious silver and gold.
Next time David says what happened, “when the Almighty scattered the kings in it”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
