In Psalms chapter sixty-one David said to Jehovah God, “I will abide in your tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah. For you, O God, have heard my vows: you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name”, and in chapter sixty-one and verse six of Psalms David said, “you will prolong the king's life” where we read,
You will prolong the king's life: and his years as many generations.
The verse begins, “You will prolong the king's life:” David began with the words, “you will prolong” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, shall add to, increase and continue” “the king's life” which means “the time, journey and period of the royal ruler”. David said Jehovah God would extend and continue his time of living and journey.
The verse goes on to say, “and his years as many generations.” David continued with the words, “and his years” or “and his, the king's, division and measure of time” “as many generations” which means “like and according to a great number and numerous ages or ever posterity”. David said Jehovah God would extend his time unto numerous ages.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew his time of life was in Jehovah God's hands, and he believed God would extend his life as he kept his commitment to Him. God knows everyone will spiritually live forever, and they will either live with Him or eternally separated from Him. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and He wants us to live with Him forever. Let us yield our lives to Him and enjoy His extension of life unto perpetuity. (See Psalm 90:12)
Next time David says, “He shall abide before God for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
