In Psalms chapter sixty-four David said, “all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing”, and in chapter sixty-four and verse ten of Psalms David said, “the righteous shall be glad in the LORD” where we read,
The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him;
and all the upright in heart shall glory.
The verse begins, “The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him;” David began with the words, “the righteous” or “the just, correct and lawful” “shall be glad” which means “will rejoice, exult and be gladdened” “in the LORD” or “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “and shall trust in him” which means “and will seek refuge, flee for protection, confide and hope within him, Jehovah God”. David said people who are just and lawful will rejoice in Jehovah God while putting their confidence and faith in Him.
The verse continues, “and all the upright in heart shall glory.” David added the words, “and all the upright in heart” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who are straight, level, pleasing and correct within their inner man, soul, mind, will, understanding, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, determination and conscience” “shall glory” which means “will shine, be boastful and flash forth light”. David said everyone who is pleasing and correct within their souls will shine and flash forth light.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David concludes this Psalm by referring to people who put their faith in Jehovah God and live in a just and lawful manner. Their souls are pleasing and correct, and this causes them to rejoice and be glad. God wants everyone to live this way. He sent His Son Jesus to the earth to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put gladness and rejoicing in our “hearts” so we may live “righteously” before Him.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “Praise waits for you, O God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
