In Psalms chapter sixty-six David said, “you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried”, and in chapter sixty-six and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “you brought us into the net” where we read,
You brought us into the net; you laid affliction upon our loins.
The verse begins, “You brought us into the net;” David began with the words, “you brought us” or “you, Jehovah God, carried, lead and caused us to come” “into the net” which means “into the snare, place of capture, fortress and strong place”. David said Jehovah God lead him and his countrymen into a strong place of capture.
The verse continues, “you laid affliction upon our loins.” David added the words, “you laid affliction” or “you, Jehovah God, put, set, placed and appointed compression, distress and pressure” “upon our loins” which means “on our, David and his countrymen's, backs”. David said Jehovah God set and appointed distresses and pressure upon the backs of him and his countrymen.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see through David how he understood Jehovah God was responsible for the distresses and troubles they were experiencing. God will try the faith of people who belong to Him because He desires that they know their level of belief in Him. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (See John 16:33), and when we put our faith and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bring peace into our lives even when we are afflicted and troubled.
Next time David says, “you have caused men to ride over our heads”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
