God Heard My Vows - Psalms 61:5

In Psalms chapter sixty-one David said of Jehovah God, “I will abide in your tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of your wings. Selah”, and in chapter sixty-one and verse five of Psalms David said, “For you, O God, have heard my vows” where we read,

For you, O God, have heard my vows: you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name.

The verse begins, For you, O God, have heard my vows: David began with the words, “for you” or “because, since and on account that you, Divine judge Jehovah God”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge Jehovah God” “have heard my vows” or “have listened to, perceived and understood my, David's, pledges, dedications, promises and consecrations”. David referred to how the Divine judge Jehovah God listened to and perceived his pledges and consecrations.

The verse continues, you have given me the heritage of those that fear your name. David added the words, you have given meor “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, have put, set, bestowed, granted, permitted, committed and entrusted to me, David” “the heritage of those” which means “the possession or inheritance belonging to the people both male and female” “that fear your name” or “who are reverent, afraid and in awe of your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory”. David said Jehovah God provided him with the possessions belonging to people who reverence and are in awe of Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God perceived and understood his promises, and he knew the source of his possessions was from Jehovah as well. In other words, David knew God listened to him when he made promises, and David recognized that everything he owned belonged to God. God loves people, and when we come to an understanding of who He is and what He has provided, we should yield to Him through His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16), and when we believe and trust in Him, we shall be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jesus Christ who knows our “vows” and provides everything to us as we show reverence and honor to Him.

Next time David says, “you will prolong the king's life”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
