In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse seven of Psalms David said, “O God, when you went forth before your people” where we read,
O God, when you went forth before your people,
when you did march through the wilderness; Selah:
The verse begins, “O God, when you went forth before your people, ...” David began with the words, “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “when you went forth” which means “at the time and moment you, Divine judge Jehovah God, exited, departed and proceeded” “before your people” or “in front and in the presence of your, Jehovah God's, members of one's people, compatriots, countrymen, nation, kinsmen and kindred”. David referred to the time and moment the Divine judge Jehovah God proceeded in front of His nation and kindred.
The verse goes on to say, “... when you did march through the wilderness; Selah:” David continued with the words, “when you did march” or “at the time and moment you, Divine judge Jehovah God stepped, passed and strode” “through the wilderness” which means “through the waste, desolate and desert place”; “Selah” or “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. David recalled the time the Divine judge Jehovah God proceeded through the desert place in front of the nation of Israel, and those who consider this idea should pause and meditate upon it.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David recalled how Jehovah God went before the nations of Israel as they traveled through the wilderness. (See Exodus 13:21) The idea is that Jehovah God cared and provided for His people in advance of their journey, and He continues to care for people today. God sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He raised Him from the dead three days later so we could be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God has gone “before” us, and we need only to receive His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord” to follow in the path in which He leads. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and Jesus Christ His Son for providing for our salvation and way of life in advance of our receiving it.
Next time David says, “the earth shook, the heavens also dropped”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
