Psalms chapter sixty-two begins with the heading, “[[To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David.]]” which breaks down, “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent, overseeing superintendent or chief choir director”, “to Jeduthun” whose name means “praising and was a Levite of the family of Merari and the chief of one of the three choirs of the temple whose descendants also formed one of the perpetual temple choirs”, “A Psalm” or “a poem or melody set to notes” “of David” which means “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter sixty-two and verse one of Psalms David said, “Truly my soul waits upon God” where we read,
Truly my soul waits upon God: from him comes my salvation.
The verse begins, “Truly my soul waits upon God:” David began with the words, “Truly my soul” or “indeed, surely and verily my, David's, inner man, mind, will, heart, appetite, desire, conscience and seat of appetites, emotions and passions” “waits upon God” which means “is silently still, abstractly quiet and trusting in the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David certifiably shared how his inner man, mind and heart were silently trusting in the Divine judge Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “from him comes my salvation.” David added the words, “from him” or “separate and apart from him, the Divine judge Jehovah God” “comes my salvation” which means “arises, appears and comes forth my, David's, welfare, prosperity, deliverance and salvation”. David said his deliverance and liberation emerges from Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David knew that his inner man, heart and mind was surely trusting in Jehovah God because God provided his liberation and deliverance. Only God can save us from our sins, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for our sins on the cross. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and liberate us from the power and influence of error and wrong. God loves us, and He provides the way to come to Him. That “way” is through His Son Jesus, and we are wise not only to understand this idea, but also to surrender ourselves to Him. (See John 14:6)
Next time David says, “He only is my rock and my salvation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
