In Psalms chapter sixty-four David said, “Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity. Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words. That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not. They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?”, and in chapter sixty-four and verse six of Psalms David said, “they search out iniquities” where we read,
They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search:
both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.
The verse begins, “They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search:” David began with the words, “they search out iniquities” or “they, the workers of iniquities, plot and plan their injustice, unrighteousness, wrong and violent deeds”; “they accomplish” which means “they, the workers of iniquity, complete and wholly and entirely finish”“a diligent search” or “a thought out, tested, perfect and shrewd trick, plot or plan”. David said the workers of iniquity plot their violent deeds, and they complete a shrewd and well tested plan for evil.
The verse continues, “both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.” David added the words, “both the inward thought” or “”in the midst of the thoughts and emotions “of every one of them” which means “belonging to each, all, the whole and everyone of the workers of iniquity”, “and the heart” or “and the inner man, mind, will, understanding, soul, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination and conscience”, “is deep” which means “exists as exceedingly mysterious and unsearchable”. David said the thinking of all of the workers of iniquity and the soul of them is mysterious and unsearchable.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David further described the workers of iniquity as he shared about their shrewd plotting of wicked and violent deeds, and everyone of the thoughts and emotions within their minds and souls were exceedingly mysterious and unsearchable. In other words, they continually looked and planned wicked ways and thoughts to perform evil because their souls were corrupt. God knows the “hearts” of every person, and because “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”, everyone is in need of a “Savior”. God loves us, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus whom He sent to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Although the workers of iniquity may plot against us, God knows their pernicious ways and will defend and protect all who surrender to Him.
Next time David says, “God shall shoot at them with an arrow”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
