In Psalms chapter sixty-two David said, “Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them”, and in chapter sixty-two and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “God has spoken” where we read,
God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto God.
The verse begins, “God has spoken once; twice have I heard this;” David began with the words, “God has spoken once” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God has uttered, declared and proclaimed one certain time”; “twice have I heard this” which means “two times have I, David, listened to, perceived, understood and given heed to the following”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God declared not only one time but two concerning the following idea.
The verse continues, “that power belongs unto God.” David added the words, “that power” or “that might and strength whether material, physical, personal, social or political” “belongs to God” which means “is owned, possessed and closely held by the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”. David said all might and strength is possessed by the Divine judge Jehovah God.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David referred to Jehovah God's twice made statement concerning His ownership of all wealth, power and might. God owns everything, (See Psalm 24:1) and anything available to us is within His control. He wants us to have “true riches” which last forever, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and control the measure of wealth, might, strength and position that we hold. Recognizing that everything is God's is a first step in managing what He puts within our trust, and when we do, we shall use His resources in a manner that will be rewarded when we give an account to Him. (See Luke 16:1-12)
Next time David says, “Also unto you, O Lord, belongs mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
