In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said, “Blessed is the man whom you choose, and cause to approach unto you, that he may dwell in your courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, even of your holy temple”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse five of Psalms David said, “By terrible things in righteousness will you answer us” where we read,
By terrible things in righteousness will you answer us, O God of our salvation;
who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
The verse begins, “By terrible things in righteousness will you answer us, O God of our salvation;” David began with the words, “by terrible things” or “through the means of fearful, reverent and awesome acts and deeds” “in righteousness” which means “within rightness, correctness and justice” “will you answer us” or “shall you, Jehovah God, respond to us, David and his fellow believers”, “O God” which means “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “of our salvation” or “pertaining to our, David and his fellow believers', rescue, liberation and deliverance”. David said Jehovah God who is their deliverer and liberator would respond to him and his fellow country men with awesome acts and deeds.
The verse goes on to say, “who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:” David continued with the words, “who are the confidence” or “who exists as the trust, security, hope and refuge” “of all the ends” which means “belonging to every extremity, uttermost and boarder” “of the earth” or “belonging to the country, territory, district, region and world”, “and of them” which means “and belonging to the people whether male or female” “that are afar off upon the seas” or “who are remote, distant and far away on large bodies of water such as the Red, Dead or Mediterranean Seas”. David said Jehovah God was the security, hope and refuge for people all over the world including people who are far off and upon the “sea”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God would respond to him and his fellow believers with awesome acts and deeds because He is the God of salvation and deliverance. God wants everyone upon the earth to yield themselves to Him through His Son Jesus, and this is why He sent Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and become our hope regardless of whether we are on land or the sea in the world.
Next time David says, “which by his strength sets fast the mountains”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
