In Psalms chapter sixty-two David said, “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; you people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah”, and in chapter sixty-two and verse nine of Psalms David said, “Surely men of low degree are vanity” where we read,
Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:
to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
The verse begins, “Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:” David began with the words, “Surely men of low degree” or “indeed, only and certainly people both male and female who are ruddy and common” “are vanity” which means “exists as vapor, breath, emptiness and a puff of wind”, “and men of high degree” or “and people both male and female who are great, champions and powerful” “are a lie” which means “exist as untruth, falsehood and deception”. David certifiably stated that common people are like a puff of wind, and those who are powerful are as falsehood and deception.
The verse continues, “to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.” David added the words, “to be laid” or “to go up, ascend, climb and brought” “in the balance” which means “within the scales or balances”, “they are altogether” or “they, the people both of low and high degree, exists as allied, alike and united” “lighter than vanity” which means “of little account, trifling and insignificant like a breath, vapor or puff of air”. David said people of both low and high degree would be placed in a scale and found to be as insignificant as a breath of air.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David included people from all walks of life in his comments. He considered both of them as “lighter than vanity” compared to Jehovah God. Everyone should “pour out” their hearts and minds to God because He loves them. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and anyone, regardless of their status in the world, who believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God for His provision to people of both “low and high degree” for salvation and access to Him.
Next time David says, “Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
