Dropping Upon the Pastures - Psalms 65:12

In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said to Jehovah God, “You crown the year with your goodness; and your paths drop fatness”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse twelve of Psalms David said the goodness and paths of Jehovah God, “drop upon the pastures of the wilderness” where we read,

They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.

The verse begins, They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: David began with the words, “they drop” or “they, Jehovah God's goodness and blessings, drip and trickle down” “upon the pastures” which means “on the pad or meadow” “of the wilderness” or “belonging to the uninhabited land and desert place”. David said Jehovah God's blessings and goodness trickle down to the meadows of the uninhabited desert places.

The verse continues, and the little hills rejoice on every side. David added the words, “and the little hills rejoice” or “and the small risings such as a hillock blossom, are clothed, glad and filled with joy” “on every side” which means “everywhere”. David said the small risings were clothed with joyful blossoms.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see through David how Jehovah God blesses the ground with His “goodness” which causes both the meadows of the desert and the small risings to blossom with joy. God created the world, and we only have to take a look at His wonderful creation to see the abundant beauty that is within it. They cry out, “there is a living God”, and He alone should be honored, praised and given glory for His wonderful blessings to people. God loves us, and He wants us to live with Him forever. Our sins separate us from a personal relationship with God, and unless we are “born again”, we cannot see the Kingdom of God. (See John 3:3) Jesus came to die on the cross for our sins so when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us an opportunity to honor Him for His creation and the people who live within it.

Next time David says, “The pastures are clothed with flocks”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
