In Psalms chapter sixty-five David said, “Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, you shall purge them away”, and in chapter sixty-five and verse four of Psalms David said, “Blessed is the man whom you choose” where we read,
Blessed is the man whom you choose, and cause to approach unto you, that he may dwell in your courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, even of your holy temple.
The verse begins, “Blessed is the man whom you choose, and cause to approach unto you, that he may dwell in your courts:” David began with the words, “Blessed is the man” or “O how happy exists the person whether male or female” “whom you choose” which means “that you, Jehovah God, elect, select and decide upon”, “and cause to approach unto you” or “and make to come or draw near to you, Jehovah God”, “that he may dwell” which means “so he, the blessed man God chooses, might abide, settle down, tabernacle and reside” “in your courts” or “within your, Jehovah God's, enclosure, settled abode, settlement, village or town”. David said the person Jehovah God elects and makes to come near Him exists as O how happy and will be allowed to abide in the settlement of God.
The verse continues, “we shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, even of your holy temple.” David added the words, “we shall be satisfied” or “we, David and his fellow believers, will exist as sated, fulfilled and enriched” “with the goodness” which means “by means of the good things, property, beauty, joy, gladness and welfare” “of your house” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, dwelling, habitation, shelter and abode”, “even of your holy temple” which means “indeed belonging to your, Jehovah God's, morally sacred and ceremonially set apart sanctuary, palace or nave”. David said he and his fellow countrymen would be fulfilled and enriched with the prosperity, gladness and welfare of Jehovah God's dwelling place and His sacred sanctuary.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover how David loved the idea of approaching Jehovah God and living with Him. Not only would this take place in God's dwelling place, but also in His sacred place of worship. God invites us to come to Him through His Son Jesus, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “satisfy” us with His “beauty, gladness, joy and welfare”. Jesus died on the cross in our place, and because He wants to live with us forever, He gave us His Son Jesus who said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes unto the Father, but by me”. (John 14:6)
Next time David says, “By terrible things in righteousness will you answer us”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
