In Psalms chapter sixty eight David said, “The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby you did confirm your inheritance, when it was weary”, and in chapter sixty-eight and verse ten of Psalms David said, “Your congregation has dwelt therein” where we read,
Your congregation has dwelt therein: you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor.
The verse begins, “Your congregation has dwelt therein:” David began with the words, “Your congregation” or “your, Divine judge Jehovah God's, people or community” “has dwelt therein” which means “remained, abode and stayed in the wilderness”. David referred to how Jehovah God's community of Israel lived within the wilderness.
The verse continues, “you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor.” David added the words, “you, O God” or “you, O Divine judge Jehovah God”, “have prepared of your goodness” which means “made stabled, established, fixed and securely determined pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, agreeableness, pleasantness and excellence” “for the poor” or on behalf of the afflicted, humbled and needy“”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God securely determined His pleasantness and excellence on behalf of the needy and afflicted.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David recalled the time when God's people, Israel, traveled through the wilderness, and he remembered how God established His agreeable pleasantness for people who were needy. God loves to take care of people. He made them. He wants a personal relationship with them, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and remind us of His provisions for His people in the past and for today.
Next time David says, “the Lord gave the word”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
