In Psalms chapter sixty-six David said, “O bless our God, you people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard. Which holds our soul in life, and suffers not our feet to be moved”, and in chapter sixty-six and verse ten of Psalms David shared how Jehovah God “has proved us” where we read,
For you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried.
The verse begins, “For you, O God, have proved us:” David began with the words, “for you” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God”, “O God” which refers to “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “have proved us” which means “have examined, scrutinized and tested us, David and his fellow countrymen”. David said Jehovah God “tested and proved” him and his fellow countrymen.
The verse goes on to say, “you have tried us, as silver is tried.” David continued with the words, “you have tried us” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God, have smelted, refined and tested us, David and his fellow countrymen”, “as silver is tried” which means “even in likeness to silver metal which is refined, smelted and tested”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God tested and tried them similar to the way silver metal is smelted and purified.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David knew Jehovah God tested him and his fellow country. He likened it to the manner in which silver metal is melted with a burning heat, has the impurities scraped off the top layer and is melted again. Each time the “silver” becomes more and more pure, and God does the same with those who believe and trust in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God will test us, try us and purify us when we surrender to Jesus, and His Holy Spirit will help us grow in our relationship and likeness to Him.
Next time David says, “you brought us into the net”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
