Remember the Reproach of Your Servants - Psalms 89:50

In Psalms eighty nine Ethan the Psalmist asked, “Lord, where are your former lovingkindnesses, which you swore unto David in your truth?”, and in chapter eighty nine and verse fifty of Psalms Ethan said to Jehovah God, “Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants” where we read,

Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants;

how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people;

The verse begins, Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants; Ethan began with the word, “Remember” or “recall and call to mind”, “Lord” which means “Adonay or reverent master”, “the reproach” or “the scorn, taunting, shame and disgrace” “of your servants” which means “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, bondmen, men of servile condition and worshipers”. Ethan called upon the reverent master Jehovah God to recall the scorn and taunting belonging to His bondmen and men of servile condition.

The verse goes on to say,how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; Ethan continued with the words, “how I do bear” or “in what way and manner do I, Ethan, lift, carry and exalt” “in my bosom” which means “within my, Ethan's, hallow, lap and midst” “the reproach” or “the scorn, taunting, shame and disgrace” “of all the mighty people” which means “belonging to each, every, the whole and everyone of the abounding, numerous, great and strong human beings both male and female”. Ethan said he carried the scorn and disgrace of every one of the powerful and strong people within his lap.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Ethan prayed to the reverent master Jehovah God to recall the scorn and disgrace of His worshipers, and he wondered how he was to carry the shame of everyone surrounding him. Although he felt abandoned and forgotten by God, he was not. God loved Ethan, and He loves us. He wants to have a personal relationship with us, and when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and hear our cry when we feel like we have been scorned and disgraced by everyone else.

Next time Ethan the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “where with your enemies have reproached, O LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
