Jesus with the Pharisees a Little While - John 7:33

The apostle John wrote how the Jews, “sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ comes, will he do more miracles than these which this man has done? The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him”, and in chapter seven and verse thirty-three of his book, John shared how Jesus tells the Pharisees, yet a little while am I with youwhere we read:

Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

The verse reads,Then said Jesus unto them, ...” John began with the words, “then said Jesus” or “at that time uttered, declared and proclaimed the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is Salvation” “unto them” which means “to the Pharisees” the following words. John shared how Jesus began to respond to the “Pharisees'” desire to capture Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.” John continued with the words, “yet a little while” which means “for a small amount of time” “am I with you” or “do I, Jesus, dwell, live and exist among you, Pharisees and Jewish people”, “and then I go unto him” which means “and at that time I, Jesus, will depart and leave to be with God the Father”, “that sent me” or “who dispatched and assigned me, Jesus”. John shared how Jesus told the “Pharisees, high priests and Jewish people” that He would only be among them for a “little” more time.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we learn how Jesus faced His opposition directly. Though the Pharisees, chief priest and officers wanted to capture Jesus, they would not lay a single “hand” upon Him. Jesus told them He would be with them for a “little” more time, and then He would return to His Father God in Heaven who sent Him. God's desire is to have every person believe and trust in His Son Jesus, and when they submit their lives to Him, He promises to forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life with Him. Let all who read these words carefully consider the perfect timing of God and yield their life to the only One who is able to provide them with everlasting and eternal life.

Next time John shares how Jesus tells the Pharisees, you shall seek me, but shall not find me, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
