Find a Colt Tied - Luke 19:30

Luke the beloved physician wrote how Jesus, “went before, ascending up to Jerusalem. And it came to pass, when he was come near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, ...”, and in chapter nineteen and verse thirty of his book Luke shared how Jesus told His two disciples, “go you into the village over against you; in the which at your entering you shall find a colt tied” where we read:

Saying, Go you into the village over against you; in the which at your entering you shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.

The verse reads, “Saying, Go you into the village over against you; in the which at your entering you shall find a colt tied, ... Luke began with the word, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming”, “go you into the village over against you” which means “you two disciples depart and be lead into the dwelling place, town and the common sleeping place to which laborers in the field return opposite and before the two disciples”; “in the which at your entering” or “where upon making entrance into the village” “you shall find a colt tied” which means “the two disciples would discover and notice a young donkey fastened and bound with chains or rope”. Luke shared how Jesus told His “two disciples” to go to the “town” near them, and when they enter, they would discover a young donkey fastened and “tied”.

The verse goes on to say, “... whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him here.Luke continued with the words, “whereon yet never man sat” or “upon which at this time not one person whether male or female has been seated”: “loose him” which means “untie, unbind and set the donkey free”, “and bring him here” or “and lead and guide the donkey to where Jesus was”. Luke shared how Jesus instructed His “two disciples” to “set free” the young donkey upon which no one had ever sat and lead the donkey to Him.

When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we discover how Jesus worked His plan in the natural circumstances of life. He knew in advance not only where this “young donkey” was located, but also that no one ever road upon him before. Jesus gave specific details to His “two disciples”, and they were to follow them exactly as He directed. All this was to fulfill the prophecies concerning the Messiah of God, and Jesus would reveal step by step that He was indeed the Christ of God and Savior of the world. Every person who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and receive everlasting life with God. Those who are wise will consider every detail that was followed by Jesus just so they might be “saved” and live “eternally” with Him.

Next time Luke shares how Jesus tells His two disciples what to do, “if any man ask you, why do you loose him?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
