Being Glad and Rejoicing in Mercy - Psalms 31:7

In Psalms chapter thirty one David said to Jehovah, “Into your hand I commit my spirit: you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD”, and in chapter thirty one and verse seven of Psalms David said to Jehovah, “I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy”, where we read,

I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy: for you have considered my trouble;

you have known my soul in adversities;

The verse begins, I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy: for you have considered my trouble;” David began with the words, “I will be glad” which means “I, David, shall exist as joyful, delighted and exulted” “and rejoice” or “and be gladdened, caused to brighten up and be made merry” “in your mercy” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness, pity and faithfulness”: “for you have considered” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, inspect, look at, perceive and consider” “my trouble” which means “my, David's, affliction, poverty and misery”. David shared how he would be delighted and be made merry within God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness because Jehovah observed and considered David's affliction and misery.

The verse continues,you have known my soul in adversities; David added the words, “you have known my soul” or “you, Jehovah God, have knowledge of, consider and understand my, David's, self, life, appetite, mind, living, desire, emotions and passions” “in adversities” which means “within straits, distresses and vexations”. David wrote how Jehovah God had knowledge of his mind, desires, emotions and passions while he suffered distresses and straits.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover David's emotional response to having the “goodness, kindness and faithfulness” of Jehovah God within His life. He knew God saw his difficulties and afflictions, and he understood that God knew his inner being and mind as he endured them. God knows us, and He loves us. He sees us in our troubles, and He knows our innermost thoughts, emotions and passions while we endure them. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of every person, and when we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord” we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and enter a personal, intimate relationship with Him. He knows us. He loves us, and when we surrender to Him, we align with His plan and purpose for our lives.

Next time David shares how Jehovah has, not shut me up into the hand of the enemy, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
