The Face of the LORD Against Evil - Psalms 34:16

In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse sixteen of Psalms, David said, “The face of the LORD is against them that do evil” where we read,

The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

The verse begins, The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, ...” David began with the words, “The face of the LORD” which means “the presence, front and countenance belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is against them” or “exists as fashioned, accomplished and in opposition to people whether male or female” “that do evil” which means “ who make, produce and perform bad, malignant, unpleasant, hurtful and wicked acts”. David said Jehovah God's countenance is opposed to people who perform and produce wickedness.

The verse continues,... to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. David added the words, “to cut off the remembrance of them” or “to eliminate, behead and destroy the memorial and recollection of the people who commit wickedness” “from the earth” which means “apart and separate from the country, territory, district, region and world”. David said Jehovah God's countenance would be in opposition to people who commit wickedness because He would eliminate the memory of them from the world.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David about Jehovah God's passion against people who commit unlawful and wicked things. God will wipe clean the world from even the “memory” of them, and His world will be righteous, lawful and pure. God is a Holy God, (See 1 Peter 1:15-16) and we are to be “holy” as well. God will judge the unrighteous, and no one will escape His judgment. Paul the apostle wrote, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (See Romans 3:23), and “there is none righteous, no, not one:” (See Romans 3:10). In other words, everyone is guilty of violating God's law, and if it were not for Jesus, the memory of everyone would be removed from the earth. God loves people, and when we yield ourselves to His Son Jesus who was “Holy” and died on the cross for the sins of the world, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Indeed the countenance of Jehovah God is against people who commit wickedness, and He will certainly judge them, however, those who surrender to Jesus have their judgment placed upon Him, and they receive the grace and mercy of a “Holy” God.

Next time David says, The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
