In Psalms chapter thirty one David said to Jehovah, “Into your hand I commit my spirit: you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. I will be glad and rejoice in your mercy: for you have considered my trouble; you have known my soul in adversities”, and in chapter thirty one and verse eight of Psalms David said Jehovah has, “not shut me up into the hand of the enemy” where we read,
And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: you have set my feet in a large room.
The verse begins, “And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy:” David began with the words, “And have not shut me up” which means “and have in no way and not at all closed off, delivered up and imprisoned me, David” “into the hand” or “into the power, might, strength and support” “of the enemy” which means “belonging to the hating adversary or foe”. David shared how Jehovah God did not in any way deliver him over to the power and strength of his hating adversaries.
The verse goes on to say, “you have set my feet in a large room.” David continued with the words, “you have set my feet” or “you, Jehovah God, have placed, established and fixed my, David's, physical feet or step” “in a large room” which means “within a broad, roomy and wide expanse”. David wrote how Jehovah God established him within a broad and wide expanse.
When we think through words in this verse, we see how David acknowledged the protection of Jehovah God from his hating foes. He knew God placed, established and fixed his position in a wide and solid location, and He protected and provided for David all the days of his life. He offers the same type of relationship to every person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. Anyone who surrenders their life to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and inherit His Divine protection and provision not only in this life, but also in the eternal life to come.
Next time David says, “my eye is consumed with grief”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
