Let All the Earth Fear the LORD - Psalms 33:8

In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as an heap: he lays up the depth in storehouses”, and in chapter thirty three and verse eight of Psalms David said, “Let all the earth fear the LORD” where we read,

Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

The verse begins, Let all the earth fear the LORD: David began with the words, “let all the earth” which means “allow and permit the whole world” “fear the LORD” or “revere, honor, respect and be in awe of Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David exhorted the whole world to revere, honor and respect Jehovah God.

The verse continues, let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. David added the words, “let all the inhabitants” or “allow and permit each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who dwell, remain, sit and abide” “of the world” which means “belonging to the globe or earth” “stand in awe of him” or “abide, dwell, remain and continue in fear, dread and reverence of Jehovah God”. David encouraged all the people of the “world” to continue in fear and reverence of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David exhorted everyone in the “world” to give honor, respect and awe of Jehovah God. The God of the universe desires to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus, and when we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit to lead us every day of our lives. Let us “fear” and “stand in awe” of Jehovah God who has given us access to Him as the Creator and maker of the universe as well as the world in which we live.

Next time David says, For he spoke, and it was done, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
