Be Glad in the LORD - Psalms 32:11

In Psalms chapter thirty two David wrote, “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusts in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about”, and in chapter thirty two and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “Be glad in the LORD” where we read,

Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, you righteous: and shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart.

The verse begins, Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, you righteous: David began with the words, “Be glad” which means “Rejoice, be gleesome and cheerful” “in the LORD” or “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “and rejoice” which means “and exult, be glad and spin around”, “you righteous” or “you, people who are listening and reading David's words who are, just, lawful, right and correct”. David exhorted the people reading and listening to his words to “be cheerful and gleesome”, and he repeated the idea of being so happy that they would spin around for joy because they were lawful, right and correct.

The verse continues, and shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart. David added the words, “and shout for joy” or “and be overcome with a ringing cry of exaltation and praise”, “all you that are upright” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone who exist as straight, correct and just” “in heart” or “within their inner man, life, living, mind, will, understanding and seat of appetites, emotions, passions and courage”. David instructed people who were right and correct within their souls and minds to ring out a cry of exaltation and praise.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David exhorted the “righteous” people who were listening to and reading his words to be cheerful and rejoicing with a loud cry of exaltation and praise to Jehovah God for His provision of mercy toward them. God desires that people live according to His ways, and when they do, they are rewarded in such a manner that they will spin around with joy and praise to Him. God loves us, and His desire is to bless our lives. He gave His Son Jesus to be crucified on our behalf to pay the price for the sins we have committed. (See Romans 6:23), and when we surrender to Him and His ways, we may shout for joy, spin around and rejoice in His wonderful provision of mercy, grace, lovingkindness and faithfulness. Let Jehovah God be praised for His wonderful love and grace extended to all who yield to His Son Jesus.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
