Looking to Jehovah and Lightened - Psalms 34:5

In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse five of Psalms, David said, “They looked unto him, and were lightened” where we read,

They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

The verse begins, They looked unto him, and were lightened: David began with the words, “They looked unto him” which means “the people both male and female regarded, paid attention to and considered Jehovah God”, “and were lightened” which means “and began to sparkle, be cheerful and flow like a sheen of a running stream”. David said people who paid attention to Jehovah God sparkled and became cheerful.

The verse goes on to say,and their faces were not ashamed. David continued with the words, “and their faces” or “and the people's presence and countenances” “were not ashamed” which means “did not exist as confounded, abashed or embarrassed”. David said the countenances of the people who regarded and paid attention to Jehovah God were not embarrassed or confounded.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David shared about people who paid attention to Jehovah God in the same manner as he. These people were made cheerful and shined like a running stream. Their countenances were unabashed, and they were in no way embarrassed or confounded. In other words, God's blessing and favor was upon them, and their lives demonstrated His goodness to them. God loves people, and His desire is for everyone to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and when we submit ourselves to Him, we will be forgiven our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. For all eternity we shall cheerfully enjoy the blessings and favor of Jehovah God and never be embarrassed or confounded that we put our trust in Him.

Next time David says, This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
