The Young Lions - Psalms 34:10

In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusts in him. O fear the LORD, you his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse ten of Psalms, David said, “The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger” where we read,

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger:

but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

The verse begins, The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: David began with the words, “The young lions” which means “the youthful lions” “do lack” or “do have needs, are impoverished, poor and in want”, “and suffer hunger” which means “and are voracious and famished”. David said youthful lions have needs and become famished and starving.

The verse continues, but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. David added the words, “but they that seek” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the people who resort to, inquire of and consult” “the LORD” which means “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “shall not want” or “will in no way lack, need or be impoverished in” “any good thing” which means “any pleasant, agreeable, rich and valuable asset whether spiritual or physical”. David wrote how people who resort to and consult with Jehovah God will not lack in any pleasant and agreeable thing they need.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David contrasted the hunger and desire of a youthful lion with the people who resort to and consult Jehovah God. “Young lions” get hungry, and they have a desperate need for food, and the person who resorts to Jehovah God should exhibit this same amount of desire for Him. God will supply the needs for everyone who comes to Him through His Son Jesus, (See Philippians 4:19) and when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and we will give Him praise, honor and glory for all eternity for His provision and protection because we resorted to and consulted with Him.

Next time David says, Come, you children, hearken unto me, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
