He Keeps All His Bones - Psalms 34:20

In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse twenty of Psalms, David said, “He keeps all his bones” where we read,

He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken.

The verse begins, He keeps all his bones:” David began with the words, “He keeps” which means “He, Jehovah God, watches over, guards and has charge of and protects” “all his bones” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of his, the righteous person's, limbs, structural members or bones of the body”. David said Jehovah God watches over and protects each and every one of the righteous person's physical “bones”.

The verse continues, not one of them is broken. David added the words, “not one of them” or “not a single one of the righteous person' bones” “is broken” which means “exists as crushed, ruptured, wrecked or shattered”. David shared how not a single “bone” of the righteous person is crushed, ruptured or shattered.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David about another prophesy concerning the Messiah. The Messiah would not have a single one of His “bones” broken, and even as the Roman soldiers came to the site of the cross to break the prisoners' legs, Jesus had already given up His spirit and no one broke His bones. (See John 19:31-36) God preserves and protects the “righteous”, and when we realize He came to the world to die on the cross for our sins and believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Jesus' “bones” were not “broken”, and He died on our behalf. When we surrender our lives to Jesus whose bones were not broken, we will be forgiven of our transgressions and sins and inherit eternal life with God in Heaven.

Next time David says, Evil shall slay the wicked, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
