Mouths Open Wide Against Me - Psalms 35:21

In Psalms chapter thirty five David said, “Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are quiet in the land”, and in chapter thirty-five and verse twenty-one of Psalms, David said, “they open their mouth wide against me” where we read,

Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it.

The verse begins, Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me, ... David began with the words, “Yes, they opened their mouth wide” which means “even so and indeed, they, the false witnesses, widened and enlarged the orifice in their face used for eating and speaking” “against me” or “in opposition to me, David”. David declared that the “false witnesses” widely enlarged their “mouths” in opposition to him.

The verse continues, and said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it.” David continued with the words, “and said” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed”, “Aha, Aha” which means “so would we have it, so would we have it” “our eye has seen it” or “our, the false witnesses', physical eye has looked at, inspected, perceived, considered, observed, notice, discovered, beheld and discerned”. David wrote how the false witnesses mocked David as they taunted him with the repetitious chanting of the phrase, “so would we have it”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David's enemies were relentless in their efforts to taunt him. They widely opened their mouths to mockingly speak against him as they bragged about being able to “see” David go through difficult times. God was with David, and even though people were mocking him, Jehovah God would protect and defend him. God loves people, and He demonstrated His love toward us even while we continued to live in sin. (See Romans 5:8) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of mankind, and anyone who will receive Him as their “Lord and Savior” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus who will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and preserve us while opposition mocks and derides us for believing in Him.

Next time David says, This you have seen, O LORD, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
