LORD, In You Do I Put My Trust - Psalms 31:1

Psalms chapter thirty one begins with the heading, [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] which breaks down, “To the chief Musician” or “to the overseer, preeminent and superintending choral director”, “A Psalm” which means “a melody or poem set to notes“of David” or “belonging to David whose name means beloved and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter thirty one and verse one of Psalms David said, “In you, O LORD, do I put my trust”, where we read,

In you, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in your righteousness.

The verse begins, In you, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed:” David began with the words, “In you, O LORD” which means “within you, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “do I put my trust” or “do I, David, make refuge, confide in, have hope and flee to for protection”; “let me never be ashamed” which means “allow and permit me, David, not at any time to exist as shamed, disconcerted and disappointed”. David said told Jehovah God that he had confidence and hope in Him, and he desired not to be shamed or disappointed.

The verse continues, deliver me in your righteousness. David added the words, “deliver me” or “rescue, liberate and cause me, David, to escape” “in your righteousness” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, justice, truthfulness and moral rightness and prosperity”. David appealed to Jehovah God to rescue and liberate him with His moral rightness and prosperity.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David placed his hope and confidence in Jehovah God, and he asked that he never be shamed or disconcerted. David knew Jehovah God could rescue him, and He would do so in a morally righteous and prosperous way. God's way is best, and He provided His Son Jesus as the only way to gain access to Him. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me”,(See John 14:6) and there is no other path to a personal relationship with Him. Jesus was perfect and without sin, and yet He died on the cross for the sins of the world. (See 2 Corinthians 5:21) Anyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God, and He invites everyone to come to Him in this manner. Let us give praise and honor to Jehovah God for providing access to Him through Jesus, and may He “deliver” us “in His righteousness” as we believe.

Next time David says to Jehovah, bow down your ear to me, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
