A Thousand Years as Yesterday - Psalms 90:4

In Psalms ninety Moses said, “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God. You turn man to destruction; and say, Return, you children of men”, and in chapter ninety and verse four of Psalms Moses said, “a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday” where we read,

For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

The verse begins, For a thousand years in your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, ... Moses began with the words, “for a thousand years” or “because, since and on account that one thousand divisions, indications and measures of time as years” “in your sight” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, eye or mental and spiritual faculties” “are but as yesterday” or “exist in likeness and similar to the previous day which has already passed” “when it is past” which means “at the time and moment yesterday went by and away”. Moses said one thousand years in Jehovah God's spiritual sight is similar to “yesterday” that has passed by.

The verse goes on to say,... ”and as a watch in the night.” Moses continued with the words, “and as a watch” or “and similar and in likeness to a shift of watching or guarding” “in the night” which means “within the nighttime hours or from sunset to sunrise”. Moses added that one thousand years goes by as quickly for Jehovah God like a nighttime shift of watching.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Moses shared how one thousand years goes by as quickly as “yesterday” or a nighttime “watch” for Jehovah God. God exists outside of time, and although one thousand years seems like a long time for us, it is brief for Him. God is eternal, and we shall live with Him forever when we receive His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and when we receive Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to live eternally in Heaven with Him. Let us give praise, honor and glory to the God who exists outside of time and invites us to be with Him forever.

Next time Moses says, “you carry them away as with a flood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
