Teach Us To Number Our Days - Psalms 90:12

In Psalms ninety Moses asked of Jehovah God, “Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath.”, and in chapter ninety and verse twelve of Psalms Moses said, “teach us to number our days” where we read,

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

The verse begins, So teach us to number our days, ... Moses began with the words, “so teach us” or “thus, therefore, wherefore and on this account instruct and help us, Moses and the people with him, to recognize, acknowledge, confess, consider, know and be skillful” “to number” which means “to count, reckon, appoint, ordain, constitute and enumerate” “our days” or “our, Moses and the people with him, periods of time as defined by the evening and morning”. Moses called upon Jehovah God to instruct him and the people with him to reckon and enumerate the evenings and mornings that they live.

The verse continues, “... that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Moses added the words, “that we may apply” or “so we, Moses and the people with him, might cause, bring near, carry and be introduce” “our hearts” which means “our, Moses and the people with him, inner man, mind, will, soul, understanding, knowledge, reflection, inclination, resolution, determination, conscience and seat of appetites and passions” “unto wisdom” or “to shrewdness, prudence and skill”. Moses said the reason he and the people with him should be instructed to “number” their “days” was so they could cause their minds and souls to be skillful, shrewd and acting with prudence.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how Moses wanted Jehovah God to give him and the people with him instruction concerning the time they live upon the earth. He wanted to use their time wisely and skillfully. “There is only one life, so soon it shall pass, and only what's done for Christ shall last”, and God knew this. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and use us in His Kingdom to share His gospel or good news with others. Salvation from sin is available to everyone, and those who are wise surrender to Him and allow Him to use them according to His perfect will and plan.

Next time Moses asks, “return, O LORD, how long?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
