Return, O LORD, How Long? - Psalms 90:13

In Psalms ninety Moses asked of Jehovah God, “Who knows the power of your anger? even according to your fear, so is your wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom”, and in chapter ninety and verse thirteen of Psalms Moses asked, “return, O LORD, how long?” where we read,

Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent you concerning your servants.

The verse begins, Return, O LORD, how long? Moses began with the words, “Return, O LORD” or “turn back, restore, refresh and repair, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “how long” which means “for what length of time and when”? Moses called upon Jehovah God to restore and turn back to him and the people with him.

The verse goes on to say, “and let it repent you concerning your servants. Moses continued with the words, “and let it repent you” or “and allow the following to console, comfort and have compassion from you, Jehovah God” “concerning your servants” which means “towards and on account of your, Jehovah God's, bondmen, men of servile condition and worshipers”. Moses beckoned Jehovah God to allow Himself to comfort and have compassion upon His bondmen and worshipers.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how Moses wanted Jehovah God to come back to him and the people with him. He wondered how long God would be as though He was away from them, and he wanted God to permit Himself to comfort and have compassion upon them. God loves people, and even when we feel like He is far away and not compassionate, He is. (See Acts 17:28) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and extend His mercy and compassion upon us for all eternity.

Next time Moses says, “satisfy us early with your mercy”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
