In the book of Hosea, Hosea said, “Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be”, and in chapter five and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea said, “the princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound” where we read,
The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound:
therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
The verse begins, “The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound:” Hosea began with the words, “the princes of Judah” or “the youthful rulers, leaders, chiefs and officials belonging to Judah whose name means praised and was the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “were like them” which means “existed similar and in likeness to the people” “that remove the bound” or “who backslide, move, turn back and displace the territory, region and boundary”. Hosea shared how the youthful leaders within the nation of “Judah” exist similar to people who remove boundaries.
The verse continues, “therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.” Hosea added the words, “therefore I will pour out my wrath” or “wherefore, then and on this account I, Jehovah God, shall spill, shed and sprawl out my, Jehovah God's, overflowing rage or fury” “upon them like water” which means “on the princes of Judah similar and in likeness to violent waste water”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God was going to spread His overflowing rage upon the “princes of Judah”.
When we think through Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God knew the youthful leaders within “Judah” were moving the boundary markers of the territories belonging to people, and the result would be God shedding His overflowing rage upon them. God doesn't delight in being angry with people. He wants a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from His “wrath” which is certain to come upon those who refuse and reject Him. (See Psalm 79:6)
Next time Hosea says, “Ephraim is oppressed and broken”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
