Desolate Ephraim - Hosea 5:9

In the book of Hosea, Hosea said, “Blow you the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah: cry aloud at Bethaven; after you O Benjamin”, and in chapter five and verse nine of Hosea, Hosea said, “Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke” where we read,

Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke:

among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.

The verse begins, Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke:” Hosea began with the words, “Ephraim shall be desolate” or “Ephraim, whose name means double ash-heap or I shall be double fruitful and is the name sometimes used for the northern kingdom, will exist as waste, horror and appalling” “in the day of rebuke” which means “within the period and division of time pertaining to correction, reproof, punishment, argument and chastisement”. Hosea shared how “Ephraim” will exist as waste and horror within the time of reproof.

The verse continues, among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.” Hosea added the words, “among the tribes of Israel” or “in the midst and middle of the rod, staff, scepter and shaft belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “have I made known” which means “have I, Jehovah God, caused to be learned, perceived, discerned, discriminated and distinguished” “that which shall surely be” or “the events that will exist as supported, confirmed, faithful and established”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God would bring into the midst of the scepter of “Israel” the understanding of that which will exist during the “day of rebuke”

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God knew the future for the people of “Ephraim and Israel”“Ephraim” would suffer horror and waste when God brought reproof upon them, and “Israel”would understand what God would make happen. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with “Israel” and us, and His salvation plan is to have people believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and extend to us His grace so we never have need to experience what will happen in the “day of rebuke”

Next time Hosea says, “the princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
