In the book of Zechariah, Zechariah said “it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbor, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbor”, and in chapter fourteen and verse fourteen of Zechariah, Zechariah shared how Jehovah God said, “Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem” where we read,
And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.
The verse reads, “And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together ...” Zechariah began with the words, “and Judah” or “and Judah whose name means praised and the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “also shall fight” which means “even so and indeed will do battle and wage war” “at Jerusalem” or “in Jerusalem whose name means teaching of peace and the chief city of Palestine and capital of the united kingdom and the nation of Judah after the split”; “and the wealth” which means “and the strength, might, efficiency and ability” “of all the heathen round about” or “belonging to each, every, the whole and everyone of the non-Hebrew, foreign and Gentile nations” “shall be gathered together” which means “will be assembled and collected with one another”. Zechariah shared how the people of “Judah” will even so and indeed wage war in “Jerusalem”, and the strength, might and efficiency of the foreign non-Hebrew nations will be assembled.
The verse continues, “... gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance.” Zechariah added the word, “gold” or “precious gold metal”, “and silver” which means “and precious silver metal”, “and apparel” or “and garments or clothing”,“in great abundance” which means “in exceeding, numerous and great amounts” would be collected from the “heathen”. Zechariah shared how “gold and silver metal” as well as garments would be collected in great amounts from the foreign nations.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Zechariah how “Judah” will be involved in the war at “Jerusalem”, and the riches of gold, silver and precious garments will be collected from the non-Hebrew foreign nations who rise against “Jerusalem”. The time has arrived when God will pour out His wrath upon those who oppose Israel and “Judah”, and all their riches and possessions would be collected together. God does not want it to be this way for anyone because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and make us aware of His protection, provision and watching over Israel, “Jerusalem” and those who surrender to Him.
Next time Zechariah says, “three shall be the plague of the horse, mule, camel, ass and all the beasts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
