Of Harim, Adna - Nehemiah 12:15

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, in the days of Joiakim were priests, the chief of the fathers: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah, of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan, of Melicu, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph”, and in chapter twelve and verse fifteen of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “of Harim, Adna” where we read,

Of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;

The verse reads, Of Harim, Adna Nehemiah began with the words, “Of Harim” whose name means “belonging to Harim whose name means dedicated”, “Adna” or “rest or pleasure”. Nehemiah shared how “Adna” who descended from “Harim” was among the priest who returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel.

The verse goes on to say, “of Meraioth, Helkai;” Nehemiah continued with the words, “of Meraioth” or “belonging to Meraioth whose name means rebellious”, “Helkai” whose name means “my portion is Jehovah”. Nehemiah mentioned“Helkai” who was the descendant of “Meraioth” was among the priests who returned to Jerusalem as well.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah about two more of the priests who returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel. “Adna and Helkai” who descended from “Harim and Meraioth” obeyed the commission of Jehovah God to go back to Judah, and their obedience becomes a model for us as God wants us to turn to Him for our salvation. “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life”. (See John 3:16) God's invitation has been issued, and when we believe and trust in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead as our “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit who will lead and guide us in our areas of ministry to Him throughout the world.

Next time Nehemiah says, “of Iddo, Zechariah”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
