Luke the beloved physician wrote how Jesus, “was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said, He casts out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falls. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because you say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty of his book Luke shared how Jesus asks, “if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out?” where we read:
But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
The verse reads, “But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, ...” Luke began with the words, “but if I” or “however, nevertheless, nonetheless and notwithstanding whether Jesus” “with the finger of God” which means “employing the finger belonging to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “cast out devils” or “drive out, expel and banish wicked and evil ones who are messengers and ministers of the devil”. Luke shared how Jesus referred to the condition of Him employing “God's finger” to “expel and drive out” demons.
The verse goes on to say, “... no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.” Luke continued with the words, “no doubt” or “therefore, so then, wherefore and things things being so” “the kingdom of God” which means “the rule, reign, dominion and kingship of the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “is come upon you” or “has arisen and appeared to the people who accused Jesus”. Luke shared how Jesus declared the arrival of the “Kingdom of God” to be among the people who accused Him.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we see how Jesus presented the idea that He had employed the “finger of God” to “expel and drive out” the demon, and this was a “sign” to people that God's Kingdom was among them. God wanted people to be in a personal, loving relationship with Him, and when they submit their lives to His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, they not only acknowledge that the “Kingdom of God” is among them but also that Jesus uses the “finger of God” to remove any “demon” He desires.
Next time Luke shares how Jesus refers to, “when a strong man keeps his palace”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
