A Thousand and Ten Thousand Falling - Psalms 91:7

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse seven the Psalmist said, “a thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand” where we read,

A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you.

The verse begins, A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; The Psalmist began with the words, “a thousand shall fall” or “a company of a thousand troops will be cast down, fall prostrate and suffer violent death” “at your side” which means “beside you, people who dwell in the secret place of the most High”, “and ten thousand” or “and ten thousand troops” “at your right hand” which means “at the right side of the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High”. The Psalmist referred to the possibility of a thousand people dying beside the people who dwelling the secret place of the most High and ten thousand people dying at their right hand side.

The verse goes on to say,but it shall not come near you.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “but it shall not” or “however, notwithstanding, nevertheless and moreover it, death, will in no way or manner” “come near you” which means “approach, draw near and be brought close to the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High”. The Psalmist said the dying of the thousand and ten thousand people would not approach the people who dwell the secret place of the most High.

When meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said though death came to a thousand people or ten thousand people, it would not draw near to the people who dwell the secret place of the most High. God wants to have a personal relationship with every person, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect us from death until He is ready to receive us into Heaven with Him. Let all praise, honor and glory be given unto Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for His provision so that death will never have the victory over us. (See 1 Corinthians 15:50-57)

Next time the Psalmist shares about, “the reward of the wicked”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
