The Reward of the Wicked - Psalms 91:8

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse eight the Psalmist shared about, “the reward of the wicked” where we read,

Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked.

The verse begins, Only with your eyes shall you behold and see ... The Psalmist began with the words, “only with your eyes” or “altogether, surely and exclusively by the use of your, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High's, physical eyes” “shall you behold” which means “will you, the people who dwelling the secret place of the most High, consider, regard and look about” “and see” or “and look at, inspect, perceive and consider”. The Psalmist said solely and surely by the use of the physical eyes of the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High's would they consider, regard, inspect and perceive the following

The verse continues, “... the reward of the wicked. The Psalmist added the words, “the reward” or “the retribution and penalty” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to the criminal, guilty and hostile to God”. The Psalmist said the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High would only observe and behold the retribution and penalty given to the guilty and hostile to God.

When think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High would only see with their physical eyes the retribution and reward given to people who are evil and hostile to God. The scriptures are clear, “vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come” (See Isaiah 63:4), and God will avenge those who have been wronged by others. God loves all people, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to “see” how He rewards the “wicked” for their evil deeds.

Next time the Psalmist shares about making, “the most High, your habitation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
