No Pestilence or Destruction - Psalms 91:6

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse six the Psalmist said, “you shall not be afraid for the terror by night” where we read,

Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

The verse begins, Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; The Psalmist began with the words, “Nor for the pestilence” or “no and not in any way because and on account of the murrain or plague” “that walks” which means “that proceeds, departs, moves, ambles about and makes it's way” “in darkness” or “within the dusk, obscurity, gloom, calamity and spiritual unreceptivity”. The Psalmist said the person who is protected by Jehovah God will not contend with the plague that makes it's way about in a clandestine and obscure manner.

The verse continues, nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. The Psalmist added the words, “nor for the destruction” or “no and not in any way because and on account of the cutting off, ruin and destroying” “that wastes” which means “that devastates and spoils” “at noon day” or “at midday”. The Psalmist said the person protected by Jehovah God did not have to contend with the devastation and spoil that occurs in the middle of the day.

When consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High are protected from pestilence in the dark and devastating ruin that happens at noontime of the day. All day and all night God would protect them. God desires to have a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect and defend us both day and night according to His perfect plan and will for our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says, “a thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
